Missiles and More Museum

Topsail Island has a rich and fascinating history filled with military testing, service, and operations. You can learn all about Topsail Island’s role in various military and war efforts when you visit the Missiles and More Museum! An exciting visit for history buffs or anyone looking to learn a little about Topsail Island, the museum is full of exhibits dedicated to topics like pirates (yes, Topsail Island was even home to real pirates long ago!), military aircraft, women pilots in the air-force, Camp Davis (a covert operation that took place right here on Topsail Island), and more.

The Missiles and More Museum is typically closed during the months of November-February. However, these dates change yearly, so be sure to check their website for the most up-to-date information.

Thurston Art Gallery

Owned by artist Sherry Thurston, the Thurston Art Gallery is located in nearby Sneads Ferry. Visitors can enjoy viewing her artwork, which features regional paintings and prints. Sherry also displays work from her international adventure. Artwork and printed gift items are available to purchase.

Seacoast Art Gallery

At Seacoast Art Gallery in Surf City, you’ll find a lovely variety of local artists’ work. Browse paintings, pottery, jewelry, stained glass works, and much more. This is a great place to find a unique treasure to take home.

The Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center

Started in 1996 by a few local volunteers who rescued an injured sea turtle named Lucky, The Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center is a favorite of locals and visitors alike. This is a fun and educational indoor activity. Get up close and personal with the sea turtles undergoing rehabilitation and learn what it takes to run such an operation. Tour their facilities and stop by their gift shop for a souvenir to take home.

Reservations are required, so plan accordingly. The rehab center is typically closed during January and February. Visit their website for the most up-to-date visitor information or to schedule your tour.

XIT Rooms

Have you ever given an escape room a try? Escape rooms are an excellent way to put your problem-solving skills to good use, work as a team, and have a blast while doing so! XIT Rooms in Surf City has several different themed rooms for you to choose from. You can even rent a kit to enjoy at your Topsail Island vacation rental.

Paradise Axe and Arcade

Axe throwing has gained popularity in recent years, and you can give it a go at Paradise Axe and Arcade in Holly Ridge! There are many fun things to enjoy along with axe throwing, like a classic arcade featuring pinball machines, racing games, darts, action games, and more. They also have a snack bar and can host parties. This makes it a one-stop shop for family fun near Topsail Island!

Topsail Beach Skating Rink

Topsail Beach Skating Rink is a local institution rolling out the fun since 1964! Located above the local post office, this family-friendly skating rink prides itself on being somewhere safe and fun for everyone, regardless of age or skating skill level. The owner and founder, Doris Jenkins, is in her eighties and will still skate occasionally!
