HOW TO "BEACH WITH BABY" LIKE A PRO

Before you hit the beach with your beautiful bundle of joy, there is one important step that you definitely do not want to forget. Make a list of everything you will need to pack for your baby's beach adventure and save yourself the headache of forgetting important essentials! Below we have a list to help get you going.

CONSIDER YOUR RENTAL LAYOUT

As parents, few things are as stressful as when your little explorer learns how to crawl up and down the stairs! Your little cutie probably loves checking out those cool stairs, but it's just not safe. If it will accommodate your family's needs, consider renting a home that is on one level and does not have a staircase inside. An oceanfront condo at St. Regis Resort is the perfect option for this. If you do choose a rental with stairs, don't forget the baby gate!

CHOOSE A RENTAL THAT'S CLOSE TO THE BEACH

Taking a baby anywhere, especially on vacation, requires SO. MUCH. STUFF! Nobody wants to lug a hundred things half a mile down to the beach and back every day, so we strongly encourage you to choose a vacation rental that's on or very close to the beach. BABY-FRIENDLY ACTIVITIES

Of course your sweet sunshine will LOVE playing on the beach (there's so much to see and explore!), but did you know there's plenty of other baby-friendly activities in and around Topsail Island? We recommend The Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center and Soundside Park (they have a playground that toddlers can enjoy) located at 517 Roland Ave, Surf City, NC 28445. What's a vacation without a little shopping? Surf City is home to Bella + James Children's Boutique, so be sure to check them out as well!

KEEP BABY SAFE ON THE BEACH

Your beach trip should be nothing but relaxing and fun, and one way to ensure that is to keep baby as safe as possible while on the beach. Of course you already know this, but never let babies, toddlers, or young children near the ocean unaccompanied by an adult. Also, we know mom and dad may want to enjoy the ocean as well, but don't be tempted to leave your baby with an older sibling so you can take a dip. Take turns, one parent at a time, just for extra safety. 

Another thing to consider while on the beach with baby is that Topsail Island and Surf City beaches allow dogs. There are leash rules in place, however that is certainly not a sure-fire protection guarantee. Be smart and alert, but also don't forget to relax!
